Acute back and neck pain is a common ailment for most people, no matter the age. It can come from a day of garden work or being a little too aggressive on the basketball court. Relieve the pain and tension with two easy home remedies.
ICE AND HEAT
There are many ways to relieve acute back pain, but the most simple of methods is cold and heat therapy. Immediately after activity, or when you first notice the pain, apply ice to your back or neck. Do this for 20 minutes at a time as frequently as necessary during the first two days of treatment. After 48 hours, use heat therapy. Lie down on your stomach and lay a moist, warm towel across the area of pain for 20 minutes.
STRETCH TWICE A DAY
Many times, the cause of back or neck pain could be muscle soreness or tightness. Usually, lower back pain is associated with tight hamstrings and neck pain could due to tense muscles in the area. Each morning, after waking up, lay flat on your back and stretch your arms over your head, take a deep breath and reach higher. Pull your knees to your chest one at a time. Stand up, put your hands on your bottom, and lean backwards to stretch your spine. Not only will this reduce your back pain, it will release some endorphins and put you in a good mood to start your day!
